The Idea…

It all began with a discussion and an idea. When multiple small business owners were attending an awards ceremony, it was noted that Northumberland was almost always banded together with Yorkshire.

Imagine the amount of small businesses across 2 counties in England battling it our for a single award - one of which is the biggest county across the Isle.

After a discussion of what awards there were for Northumberland, it was noticed that there is very few. This is where the idea was created… why doesn’t someone start up an awards system for small businesses across Northumberland?

So that’s what we did! Vin & Vine Events was not solely created to bring these awards to businesses across Northumberland but, what a way to start a new business!

We’re always looking for businesses and individuals to get involved. If this is something that interests you, get in touch at events@vinandvineevents.com. We’d love to hear from you!

The TNA’s

My name is Jessica Angus and I am creating these awards for Northumberland. I have lived and worked in the county since the age of 12. I have worked in retail, teaching, marketing and events and I am currently in the hospitality industry - more so in management, weddings, events and marketing/advertising. I am also part of a number of local community groups and regularly put on events to raise money for them.

After contacting a number of businesses across Northumberland asking whether an awards system would be of interest and supported, the idea became a reality. With a lot of support from Northumbrian businesses and owners, I started working on making the idea reality.

The TNA’s are an awards system for businesses within Northumberland. Only businesses within Northumberland can enter and win.

The awards will be free to enter, nominate and vote. This was decided as most industry and business awards are a “pay to enter” system which can be difficult especially for small businesses. The only time the TNA’s will need to be paid for is for the awards ceremony at the end of the year.

The awards ceremony will include: live entertainment, trophies, certificates, sit down meal and media packs for all involved.

These awards are being created on a voluntary basis and I am not planning on them becoming a “money making” scheme. They are purely for Northumbrian businesses to celebrate and advertise themselves within their county.
